USEPA Superfund Site-Slag Landfill
                    Ohio and Pennsylvania
GEO performed the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and soil borings at a former steel manufacturer's slag landfill. The wells ranged from 20 feet to 150 feet in depth and were installed into glacial material (silt, flowing sand, hard till) and bedrock. Soil borings were completed in the slag materials. GEO used multiple drilling techniques to complete this project including hollow stem auger drilling (3-1/4, 4-1/4 and 8-1/4 inches), split spoon sampling, cable tool drilling, and air hammer drilling.
GOE performed other activities at the site such as the installation of over 1,000 feet of steel surface casing, installation of artesian wells, grouting, containment and management of site investigative wastes (soil and water), decontamination, and well development.
